The Monastry

Today we decided to go take a break and relax at the Monastry. You know, restoration. And where better to do so than some where remote, beautiful and silent? It was a stunning day, besides the raging winds and icy temperature (snow is expected just outside Grahamstown this weekend) nothing that couldn't be solved with a couple of blankets though, and we spoilt ourselves with cream cheese and crackers. It was retreat in every meaning of the word. The monastry was set up a few years back by 5 monks who came out from the US. We had the pleasure of meeting 2 of them today.

Chemistry Afterparty

For the past term, our 2nd year chemistry class has been working on an entrepreneurial project. We were given a product (for us it was a swimming pool testing kit) and we had to figure out how to make the product and make a business plan. Take into mind that we are chemsitry students, we know almost nothing about accounting and marketing. Well we had to learn, and fast. And we did after alot of time and effort. So, yesterday was the big day - the presentation. After all our hard work, it came down to this day.. The afternoon was open to the enitre chemsirty department, and they had invited Grade 11 students from 3 local schools to come watch. The winners were awarded R1800 from Sasol. I'm proud to say that my group outdid themselves in coming 3rd! Well done Crystal Clear! Post the presentations was the cocktail party and prisegiving. You have probally never seen a more exstatic group of students before - finally we were done! This made the evening all the more celebratory.

So the theme for Dave and Andy's 21st was, wait for it, psychedelic rave! Try imagine some of the outfits before scrolling down - yes, they were that outrageous. What a blast!

Hall Ball 2009 - Oscar's

A night of extravagence and indulgence. Our Hall Ball for 2009 was themed "The Oscar's". The Hall Ball Committee went all out and really did an amzing job - was better than my matric dance! All the girls dressed up in their finest and the guys cleaning up pretty well too.
